The middle-aged actor who has become, over the years, one of the most coveted bachelors in Hollywood has finally decided to become a man and settle down.
People reports that it has it on good authority that George Clooney decided to leave his wild oats-sowing days behind and get married. He is reported to have already popped the question to his girlfriend Amal Alamuddin and consequently they are now engaged to be married.
“George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem. I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever,” says an insider.
As for the time when the happy event took place, the source can't be sure but speculates that it happened “not that long ago, I think.”
Other sources confirm the speculation by pointing out that Amal was sporting a huge ring when she went out with George on Wednesday night in a LA restaurant.
Naturally, the press investigated and immediately contacted George's representative, but the answer that was given to them didn't shed any light on the matter, “I don't comment on my client's personal life,” said the rep.
Amal, George's new fiancée, is a British lawyer who specializes in international law and human rights and word on the street has it that they've been going out since October last year. Ever since then, they've been spotted on globe-trotting trips, having a good time and enjoying each other's company.
It would seem that Amal has a very special quality that makes her so desirable that even George Clooney, the man that has mentioned on several occasions that he has no plans to get married or have children, will shun his whole system of beliefs and want to take her in matrimony.
Insiders with the couple have mentioned that Clooney was attracted to Amal because she is an accomplished woman who has no intention of pursuing a career in acting. It seems that the fact they are both from two very different worlds gives the actor the confidence to see himself spending his life with the 36-year old attorney.
Unlike previous girlfriends such as Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler, who were models or reality stars, Amal is a lawyer and also an United Nations adviser and she is said to relate to Clooney's humanitarian work as well as his political endeavors, which seems to appeal to him more than his Hollywood career at the moment.
