Actor breaks his silence to come to his ex’s defense

In what is definitely a first for him, actor George Clooney is breaking his own word and speaking about his personal life to the press – but only to defend his ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis. Clooney is responding to reports that she sent him angry texts over his new romance.

Shortly after breaking up with Canalis, presumably because she started pressuring him for marriage and children, Clooney was linked to Stacy Keibler.

In its latest issue, Us Weekly claims that Elisabetta was upset to hear of Stacy and her involvement with her ex through the media, and consequently sent of a series of “nasty” texts to George in which she gave him a piece of her mind.

The report also said that she was beyond fuming mad that Clooney wouldn’t inform her that he was moving on with his personal life.

None of that ever happened, the actor says in a statement cited by AceShowbiz.

“I never comment on my personal life unless it affects others... and this lie affects others,” Clooney says, explaining why he’s breaking his silence now.

“Since I would be the only actual witness, I ask you to correct your story immediately, but that would assume you cared at all about telling the truth,” he adds, calling out Us on their false report.

He’s not the only one to deny the story, since a rep for Canalis did the same shortly after it came out.

“Us Weekly was informed that the details of their story were untrue – that Elisabetta and Stacy have never met and that she wasn’t aware of who Stacy was prior to receiving multiple questions about their apparent relationship. She certainly has never sent her nasty texts either,” Elisabetta’s publicist said in a separate statement.

In other Canalis-related news, she was the latest celebrity to leave the new season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, despite putting on a decent performance the night before with the quickstep, as we also informed you the other day.
