‘Limera1n is little more than a raindrop on a website’, the hacker notes on his blog

Hacker extraordinaire George Hotz (or Geohot, as the jailbroken community calls him) is at it again, going by his latest blog post which shows a brand new iPhone 4 running Cydia, the gateway to unapproved third-party software for iPhone and iPod touch. In short - Geohot has achieved a full iPhone 4 jailbreak. His post (published just hours ago) includes references to Limera1n.com, the domain known to be secured by Hotz since April, this year.

“Got one of these in the mail today and figured I'd give it a shot,” Geohot writes. “As far as a release goes, it probably won't happen from me. limera1n is little more than a raindrop on a website; it was never mentioned by me previous to this post. pwned4life is a complete invention of some blogger in a basement somewhere. When I said pwned for life, I was referring to the original iPhone, 3G, and Touch; which of course are, by the aptly named PwnageTool.”

Hotz urges jailbreak fans to stay put and “don't ask for release dates”. He claims that, “Every person that does makes me want to release a little bit less.”

His reasons are obvious - with the iPhone maker gearing up to release a software update for all iPhone owners out there in the coming weeks, Geohot needs to make sure his jailbreak will work for as much time as possible without Apple patching it in a planned firmware release. So, until Apple rolls out its promised antenna fix for iOS customers, you can expect Geohot to leave his iPhone-centric blog unattended.
