14 DAY TRIAL // Before the Gosselin drama began to play out in all the tabloids and on all television networks, there were the Lohans. On one side, Michael Lohan, on the other, ex-wife Dina, while smack in the middle was actress Lindsay Lohan. Although their family disputes no longer generate the kind of press they used to, say, two years ago, they’re still at each other's throat, from what we can see from Dina’s recent comments.
We were telling you the other day that Michael Lohan, who has been infamously cut out from the family for many years, had revealed to several media outlets that he knew for a fact that Lindsay had a problem with prescription pills. Hours later, Michael was also dishing out on his and Dina’s plans for a “secret” intervention meant to save Lindsay from herself, her addiction and the “leeches” she called friends. The problem is that those plans never happened, Dina now fights back, and Michael continues to lie to the media in exchange for money.
“He’s estranged from Lindsay; he doesn’t know what’s going on in her life. Michael doesn’t talk to her. I’ve had full custody of all my children for the last 10 years. He has been incarcerated for some of that time, so whatever is going on in Lindsay’s personal life is our business. […] I can’t change Michael to make him do the right thing – that’s up to him and God. But it is hurtful for a child for her own father, whom she has no relationship with, to say things in public about her like that.” Dina says in a statement to PageSix.
And it’s not just Michael that Dina is furious at, since the media too is again beginning to step over boundaries and forget that, at the end of the day, Lindsay remains a sweet 23-year-old who just needs to be left alone to live her own life and not be criticized around the clock. Even fashion critics are picking on Lindsay just for the sake of it, thrashing her efforts for Ungaro without even bothering to see the pure genius hidden behind the new collection that was presented during the Paris Fashion Week just days ago.
“The critics can say whatever they want, but Lindsay is a genius. […] Leave Lindsay alone. Let her be a real 23-year-old. Let her grow, and let her artistic abilities flourish. Stop judging the Britneys and the Lindsays. They are very creative girls, and that is a gift from a higher power of God.” Dina Lohan further says for the same publication. Michael is yet to respond to the recent allegations, but keep an eye on this space for when he does.
