Patent wars always start anew, even small ones like this one

Genius Electronic Optical may or may not have expected this, but a patent war has just been started against it.

The plaintiff is Taiwan-based handset-use lens module maker Largan Precision, and the lawsuit has been filed with the California Northern District Court.

The complaint is that Genius Eletctronic Optical is selling lenses and lens-module related products that infringe its patents.

Now we can only wonder how much time it will take for the district court to comb through all the dry facts in the patent filing and determined which of the new enemies is right.

Genius Electronic Optical has, of course, said it has not infringed Largan's patents, so there won't be any settlement outside of the court.

Hopefully, this dispute won't become as long-winded as the Samsung-Apple one. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if it did. The lawsuit may not be as high-profile as that one, but it does serve to continue the torrent of patent wars that never seems to thin.
