Nobody can argue against the fact that intense workout sessions, be they in the gym or in the great outdoors, more often than not make people sweat, pant and even experience physical pain.

While some people patiently wait for these symptoms to go away so that they may enjoy that sudden rush of endorphins that workouts provide them with, others simply feel weakened and not in the mood for anything. Daily Mail reports that, according to Professor Panteleimon Ekkekakis, currently working with the Iowa State University, this second category of people have their genetic make-up to “thank” for their being unable to enjoy physical exercise as much as others do.

The professor says that, as far as he can tell, 50% of an individual's brain reactions to intense and even mild workout sessions are influenced by genetics.

Thus, it all comes down to what threshold for exercise-induced pain each person has.
