The results of a long-term study conducted by experts at the University of Michigan on those who make up Generation X has revealed that these individuals are a lot happier than previous investigations had suggested.

The paper uncovered that 70 percent of these people are working for 40 hours or more each week, and also that they spend a lot more time working and commuting than the average American adult. They are also more likely to be employed at this time than non-Generation X individuals.

According to the team, about 64 percent of them are married, and 71 percent of those have at least one child at home. Generation Xers who have children in elementary school tend to be very involved in the little ones' lives, with 75 percent of them saying that they help their kids with homework.

“They are not bowling alone. They are active in their communities, mainly satisfied with their jobs and able to balance work, family and leisure,” The Generation X Report author and U-M political scientist Jon D. Miller says. This study was supported by the US National Science Foundation.
