General Wireless announced that it will be the first company to ship SMS and MMS mobile messaging PC-plugins for Microsoft Windows Vista and Outlook 2007. General Wireless' PC-plugins, named eSMS and eMMS, enable users with an Internet connection to easily send text, pictures, sound and video from PCs to mobile phones. The new PC plugins are compatible with Outlook 2000, Outlook XP and Outlook 2007, and they have been adapted to work with the new security policies in Windows Vista and Microsoft Outlook 2007.

eMMS is a suite of PC plug-ins to enable SMS and MMS to be sent from computers. Messages can be sent not only to mobiles, but also to fixed-line phones and to applications such as MMS albums and even to voting lines for programs like Big Brother.

eMMS Desktop is a new concept that makes it easy to compose SMS or MMS using one of a variety of Windows applications. It can be integrated into Outlook Express, and can also be used through a toolbar plug-in in Internet Explorer. eMMS Desktop is integrated with the Windows Address Book, remembers telephone numbers and enables drag and drop of both text and phone numbers, making it easy to send MMS or SMS to contacts. Users can put multimedia content or text into the message by right-clicking in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer, or simply by dragging and dropping.

Users can easily send text or multimedia messages via a button in the command bar. eMMS Desktop supports concatenated messages, SMS scheduling for later delivery, SMS Notifications from meeting reminders, SMS notification of incoming email. All messages composed offline, meeting reminders and scheduled messages are stored in a SMS Outbox folder. For multimedia messages, eMMS Desktop allows the creation of MMS messages supporting text, images, sound and video, and also handles the conversion of multimedia files. Users can choose the "Simple Mode" for rapid creation of MMS in a similar way to composing e-mails, or the "Advanced Mode" that allows the creation of more complex MMS presentations. eMMS Desktop also includes support for the Synchronised Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) standard that allows the building of time-based, streaming multimedia presentations that combine audio, video, images, and text.

General Wireless will demonstrate its eSMS/eMMS messaging products at the Global Messaging Conference in Monte Carlo, June 5-6.
