Coming to add to the already extensive range of PC cooling solutions, Gelid's latest cooler has been completed and formally announced, ready to tackle both AMD and Intel CPUs.

One thing about the cooler market is that it never seems to be nearing saturation, since new designs never cease to get attention.

Of course, this comes naturally with the consumer base's ever present preference for things that are new, even if they aren't necessarily better.

Then again, with the coming of new CPUs, it only makes sense that new coolers, or at least revised versions of previous ones, show up.

Coming to carry on this trend is Gelid, whose product portfolio has grown to include the not so newly revealed GX-7.

By 'not so newly revealed,' we mean that the product was actually first shown off back at CeBIT, in March.

Still, the formal release only now has been carried out, leaving it to users to decide whether the tag of $65 (45 Euro in Europe) is worthwhile.

The unit works on not just Intel LGA 775, LGA 1155 and LGA 1156 CPUs, but also AM2(+), AM3 and FMI central processing units from Advanced Micro Devices.

It measures 130 (L) x 65 (W) x 159 (H) mm, weighs 720 grams and has seven stacked heatpipes, plus V-shaped aluminum fins and one or two fans.

A Wing 12 PL Blue LED spinner is included in the package (MTBF of 100,000 hours, Nanoflux bearing, 600 to 1,800 RPM, 26.8 dbA), so users will have to buy another one if they want double the heat dispersion might.

"The GX-7 when using dual 120mm fans can provide cooling equivalent to liquid cooling solutions," said Gebhard, Sales Director of GELID Solutions Ltd.

As always, those that want the full rundown of the specifications need only drop by the official product page, located here.
