Del Rey Paperback has announced that a third Gears of War themed novel, written by Karen Traviss, a best selling author as certified by the New York Times will launch at retail on August 31 for the price of 16 dollars.

The new Gears of War novel will pick up after the apparent destruction of the Locust Horde that occurred in the second video game in the series, with the remnants of Jacinto now set to create a new center for human society on an island.

Marcus Fenix and the other Gears that can fight are focusing on providing security, with pirate raids being the immediate threat.

To the surprise of both sides the Lambent, a strain of the Locust that are more terrifying and tougher in combat, begin to assault the survivors and gangs must ally with the Gears in order to beat back their new siege at Anvil Gate.
