14 DAY TRIAL // Gears of War 3 is one of next year's biggest Xbox 360 exclusives, but it has recently disappointed fans when it was revealed that it will be pushed back from its initial April, 2011 release date, to the fall of next year.
Now, though, Epic Games, the title's developer, has revealed some big news for Gears fans, as the title will be getting a multiplayer beta stage next year, and the final game will be getting dedicated servers, a feature that has been called for quite some time.
Given the fact that Gears of War 3 has been pushed back for around five months, Epic Games decided to really polish up the game and will organize a thorough multiplayer beta stage next year, although a date wasn't revealed.
A part of the beta stage will be the implementation of dedicated servers, a move that will finally remove the advantage that multiplayer game hosts had in both the original Gears of War and its sequel.
Epic Games revealed that it was already doing some tests on the multiplayer mode of Gears of War 2, as weapons were balanced to behave the way they will in Gears 3, and some small-scale tests with dedicated servers were also underway.
This multiplayer beta stage shouldn't be considered a demo though, as the game's executive producer, Rod Fergusson, said that the five month delay will allow the studio to actually implement the feedback it will get from those who will participate in the testing stage.
Gears of War 3 marks a bigger departure from the game's original roots, promising the deliver new characters, even female ones, and new adventures for the game's Delta Squad.
The multiplayer section will be thoroughly improved, especially since the one from Gears 2 received a lot of criticizing from many players due to imbalanced weapons and the aforementioned host advantage.
