The PC is firmly at the core of the development process for the upcoming Borderlands 2, according to the development team working on the game, and even the versions for home console borrow a lot of the elements from the PC-based template.

Randy Pitchford, the leader of Gearbox Software, has said during the Rezzed show that, “We develop on the PC, it’s how we make games. Even our development kits for console are plugged into PCs. However, we are developers and we take a lot of things for granted as most of us aren’t worried about dealing with our network configurations and things like that.”

The executive says that he is also listening to feedback linked to the PC version of the first game in the series and is addressing the issues that gamers have talked about.

He added, “With both BL1 and BL2, the PC version is the best looking, highest fidelity version of the game, but what we’ve learned, is that the details are important to you on the PC and we made a strong effort to improve those details in the product.”

The set of PC-based features that Gearbox has detailed via the voice of series mascot Claptrap includes: high resolution support, push to talk, friends list support, mouse-controlled menus, achievement support, cloud save, control pad support, Field of View slider, V-sync integration, mouse smoothing options, native multiplayer matchmaking, a better designed User Interface, no port forwarding, easy-to-define key bindings.

Borderlands 2 takes place on the same planet as the first game in the series and introduces new character classes, allowing players to once again use a wide array of weapons and skills in order to battle large numbers of enemies.

Borderlands 2 will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on September 18 in North America and three days later in Europe.
