Gateway, one of the world's leading vendors of personal computer systems and a subsidiary of the world's second largest PC vendor, Acer, has recently announced an update to its line of FX gaming series, with the addition of new models. Designed to take advantage of the latest hardware, the new systems will provide consumers with the performance enabled by Intel's newest Core i5 and Core i3 CPUs. In addition, the new series has also received a facelift, letting consumers enjoy a redesigned desktop, built with gaming in mind.

“When it comes to online entertainment, PC gaming and value, Gateway's FX Series can't be beat,” said Steve Smith, Gateway desktop product marketing. “While maintaining our price/performance leadership position, the new FX models boast a race car-like design with red accents and lighting, and include several new features that enhance the convenience and use of the PC.”

There are two, new FX models, the FX6831-03 and FX6831-01, both of which have been designed to combine Intel's Core i7 860 2.8GHz processor and AMD's latest Radeon HD 5850 graphics card. The main difference between the two is that the first, priced at MSRP US$1,699.99, offers 16GB of DDR3 memory and a Blu-ray disc BD-ROM, while the latter only comes with 8GB of memory and a SuperMulti Drive. This is available for an MSRP of US$1,299.99.

In addition to the FX series, Gateway also announced new SX and DX models. The most affordable model, part of the SX series, starts at just US$599.99 and includes an Intel Core i3 530 processor, clocked at 2.93GHz and coupled with the integrated GMA X4500HD graphics chipset. The model also sports up to 6GB of DDR3 memory, 1TB SATA drive, SuperMulti optical drive and Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. For an MSRP of US$849.99, the DX4831-03 offers a choice for Intel's Core i5 650 processor, 8GB of DDR3 memory, an NVIDIA GeForce GT220 graphics card and up to 1TB of storage space, on a SATA hard drive.
