Gateway may have already unleashed the new ID series of mobile computers, but it just so happens that the official announcement also introduced two models belonging to the NV line.

The past decade saw the attention invested in aesthetics and power efficiency, especially when it comes to mobile computers and consumer electronics, practically grow by leaps and bounds.

It is for this reason that companies are now doing their best to make sure that notebooks are light, with thin screen bezels, various color themes and special chassis alloys, among other things.

Gateway's ID and NV series may not be too embellished, but they do have a certain grace and a silver-white color theme that stands out.

The ID series offer has already been detailed here, while the new NV models number exactly two and are available in the US and Canada, respectively.

The NV57H05h ($799 CAD) is the one up for order in Canada and is a 15.6-inch model based on the Intel Core i3-2310M dual-core central processing unit (clock speed is 2.1 GHz).

The CPU (with built-in Intel HD 3000 graphics) is backed up by 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory).

Gateway made sure to add a HDD (640 GB), as well as a 1.3 megapixel webcam, WiFi, HDMI (HDCP-ready), HD stereo speakers, one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports and a multi-gesture touchpad, plus a 6-cell Li-ion battery (up to 4 hours on one charge).

Meanwhile, the $629.99 (USD) NV55S05u, for the US, uses the AMD A8-3500 APU, which boasts the Radeon HD 6620G graphics.

6GB of RAM exist here, meaning that the 1.5 GHz quad-core chip above and its RAM backup will be somewhat more powerful than the parts on the other machine.

Gateway also gave this notebook a 640 GB HDD and a largely identical specification sheet as far as everything else goes, down to the 8X DVD SuperMulti double-layer drive.

Finally, both run Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and are loaded with Microsoft Office Starter 2010.
