The LT41P07u Touch Companion, a name that might be a little hard to remember, comes boasting a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768. The screen is LED-backlit, so it will be able to brighten faster and consume less energy, in the process.
Most notebook manufacturers these days claim they are building notebooks to perfectly blend portability with increased performance and Gateway seems to be trying to keep up with the completion here.
The Touch Companion has been obviously designed as a mobile, relatively light device weighing just 2.38 lbs / 1.07 kg and being only 1 inch / 25 mm thick. Regardless, Gateway has managed to slip in specifications that will allow for demanding activities to unfold without a problem.
The company powers the laptop via a dual-core 1.46GHz Intel Celeron processor (said to be the perfect combination of quality, reliability and performance) coupled with 2GB of RAM. Users will be able to stream content from the laptop onto HDTVs or external monitors via the HDMI out.
To take full advantage of the touch-sensible screen, the laptop ships with Windows 8 out of the box. Users are also given the choice of updating to Windows 8.1 for free.
Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 comes pre-installed, so the laptop is perfect for conducting work-related activities too. On top of that, users also get Norton Online Backup, Norton Internet Security 2013, Netflix, Skype, WildTanget Demo Games and a bunch of other apps.
The only down part seems to be the battery life, as the Touch Companion is said to last up to just 5 hours of intense use, which might not prove to be enough for some users. Gateway offers a 500GB GB hard drive, so users can store their files safely.
