Gateway has just officially announced the first touch-screen notebook line from its LT series, called the Gateway LT41P in the US.

The laptop aims at winning the hearts of budget consumers by sporting a super accessible price of $330 / €241. And if you decide to purchase the device sooner than later, TigerDirect awards you the model at the discounted price of $280 / €205 (promotion lasts just a few weeks).

The LT41P features a touch-enabled 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1366 x 748 pixels. Gateway has bundled the notebook with a 1.46GHz Intel Celeron N2805 dual-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The LT41P runs Windows 8 and ships with Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Student. The base model weighs 2.4 pounds / 1.08 kg and has a battery of 28Whr that should provide up to 5 hours of life juice.

Customers have the option of choosing a larger 56Whr battery which will increase the device's life span to 10 hours, but this comes at a price, with the laptop’s weight increasing 2.7 pounds / 1.2 kg. If you ask us, 5 hours of extra life for 0.3 pounds / 0.13 kg is a fair trade-off.

The Gateway website says there should be 5 different versions of the laptop with the one sporting the longest battery life (Gateway LT41P09u) selling for $350 / €256.
