As most of you already know, Microsoft is currently planning the launch of its next-generation Windows 7 operating system, an OS that has been scheduled for release for October 22 and has been anticipated for a while now. On that note, a number of PC vendors are preparing to update their product portfolios with the introduction of new systems that will be running said OS. One of them is Gateway, which has just announced the introduction of its new all-in-one PCs, both of which will run on Windows 7 and will be featured with multitouch-capable touchscreen displays.

“While touch PCs to date have been cost-prohibitive and somewhat limited in their capabilities, Gateway is making this new technology more accessible to average consumers, while using an industry-standard solution that isn’t challenging to learn,” said Ray Sawall, senior manager of product marketing for Gateway. “The functionality of Windows 7 and multi-touch brings an entirely new computing experience to consumers, and our affordable all-in-one PCs are the perfect vehicle for showcasing this technology.”

Kicking off with the high-end Gateway One ZX6810-01, users will be able to take advantage of a 23-inch Full HD widescreen LCD with support for a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The system is based on Intel's GM45 Express chipset and will be powered by an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200S processor, clocked at 2.33GHz and paired with a maximum of 8GB of DDR3 memory. Additional features include the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 graphics chip with 1GB of DDR3 memory, a 1TB SATA hard drive and a 64GB SSD, integrated 802.11 b/g/Draft-N and Gigabit LAN connectivity, six USB 2.0 ports, eSATA port, Hybrid TV Tuner with remote control and an integrated HD Webcam.

Design-wise, the Gateway One ZX4800 Series is similar to the ZX6800 model but is available as a scaled-down version of said system. Based on an Intel GL40 Express chipset, the all-in-one PC is powered by a Pentium Dual Core T4300 processor, clocked at 2.1GHz and coupled with Intel's GMA X4500HD graphics chip and 4GB of DDR2 dual-channel memory. This model sports a 20-inch HD widescreen display and comes with one 750GB hard disk drive, SuperMulti optical drive, 4-in-1 media card reader and basically the same connectivity options available on the aforementioned model.

Price wise, the 23-inch all-in-one PC will be available for an MSRP of US$1,399.99, while the lower-end model, the ZX4800, will start at US$749.99.
