Netbooks may have lost their fame, but they are still out there, some new models even appearing from time to time, like the Gateway LT4004U.

The new product that Gateway has put together is a more or less common netbook, albeit powered by a new-generation Intel processor.

The central processing unit (CPU) in question is the Intel Atom N2600, part of the Cedar Trail collection.

This chip has two cores, each working at a clock speed of 1.6 GHz, plus an integrated graphics component called GMA 3600.

For those who want to go further into the Cedar Trail features, GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 3600 boasts 64GB of memory and a frequency of 400 MHz.

That said, being an Intel chip, Gateway had to stick to the product screen size of 10.1 inches.

Speaking of the screen, it is an LCD (liquid crystal display) with LED backlighting and a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels.

Obviously, this won't allow for overly impressive video, but, fortunately, the Full HD support isn't actually supposed to be exhibited on the panel itself.

Instead, should buyers wish for it, they will be able to hook up their netbook to an HDTV via the HDMI connection.

Moving on, Gateway outfitted the LT4004U with an HDD (hard disk drive), whose capacity is of 250 GB and which works at 5,400 RPM (rotations per minute).

Furthermore, 1 GB of RAM (random access memory) is available, as is a multi-card reader.

Finally, Gateway tossed in 100 Mbit LAN, three USB 2.0 ports and 802.11b/g/n WiFi, for both wireless and cable-based connectivity.

BestBuy already has the LT4004U up for order at a price of $279.99 / 211 Euro. The tag accounts for a 6-cell battery (for up to 8 hours of use on a single charge) and the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system as well.
