Gas Powered Games has announced its next project and it seems that the company is aiming to create a whole new fantasy universe. It will be called Kings and Castles and will tell the story of a battle between three kings who are aiming to control an entire universe. The title will be offered for both the PC and home gaming consoles.

It appears that Kings and Castles will use the same engine as Supreme Commander and that the team intends to fully utilize the zoom capabilities of that technology, probably aiming to have hundreds of units on screen at the same time. Gas Powered Games has not offered other details on the game and on how it will aim to stand out from the real time strategy crowd, no release window was mentioned for the project either.

Chris Taylor, who is the Creative Director at Gas Powered Games, stated that “We’re doing something different this time around. We want to take our fans on a great adventure with us. They’ll get to go behind-the-scenes and watch the game come to life from start to finish.” Taylor also added that the company would give fans a unique insight into the development process, using Facebook and Twitter, with the developer joking that “Synergy will be leveraged, and paradigms will be established. More importantly, buzzwords will be utilized.”

Before development on Kings and Castles can fully get underway, Gas Powered Games still has to deliver Supreme Commander 2, which is set to arrive on the PC on March 2 in North America and three days later in Europe, while the version for the Xbox 360 home gaming console is set to arrive two weeks later. The game will probably also receive updates and downloadable content at a later date. Fans of the first Supreme Commander can expect a more focused experience featuring streamlined graphics.
