Garth Brooks was retired from recording and performing for several years (until 2009), but he tells Ellen DeGeneres that he didn’t regret his decision once. Check it out in the video above.

He never imagined that staying at home with the kids would be such an amazing experience and that the days would go by so quickly, but they did, and he’s happy he opted to put his career on second place, he says.

He also goes into the details of the first time he met his current wife Trisha Yearwood and even gets a bit emotional when talking about her.

“This was somebody I always enjoyed being around, and we had a lot more in common than I ever dreamed we did. And so we started seeing each other after the divorce and we came off tour… And I've got to tell you if you like her and don't know her you'll love her. If you love her and don't know her you'll worship her. She's the real deal,” Brooks explains.

The divorce he’s talking about is from his college sweetheart Sandy Mahl. He says they’re still on very good terms.
