Will Garry McKinnon be extradited to the United States, where he faces hacking charges? That’s the question that’s probably asked by most of those who have been following the controversial case.

Today, on October 16, UK Home Secretary Theresa May will decide if McKinnon, who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, will be handed over to US authorities.

Mrs. May might block the extradition based on a medical report which shows that there’s a chance the hacker will commit suicide if he is extradited.

According to the Daily Mail, she will also alter current legislation to make sure that it’s more likely for UK citizens to face trial in their own country than to be sent to the US.

Garry McKinnon has admitted to have hacked into NASA systems, justifying his actions by claiming he wasn’t looking to cause damage, but to find evidence of aliens.

Stay tuned, as I’ll let you know about the Home Secretary’s decision as soon as it becomes public.
