Garmin-Asus unveiled on Thursday the first mobile phone it pushes on the market with Google's Android operating system on board, the nüvifone A50. According to the company, the handset is expected to become available for purchase during the first half of the ongoing year, while packing a nice range of navigation features, and now we have the chance to take a closer look at its specifications list, courtesy of androidauthority.

The nüvifone A50 will land on the market with the Android 1.6 platform on board, and should also include the company's Breeze UI on top of the OS. In addition, users should also enjoy a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen display that boasts an HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) resolution, as well as a 3-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus. A 600MHz Qualcomm 7227 CPU is what gives power to the handset, complemented by 256MB of RAM and 256MB of ROM.

On the connectivity side, the device comes with support for HSDPA Cat 8 7.2Mbps, HSPA / WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and GPRS EDGE Class 12, as well as with WLAN 802.11b+g, USB v2.0 (HS), and Bluetooth 2.1. There are 4GB of internal memory users will benefit from, with the possibility to add more storage space through the micro-SD (SDHC) memory card slot. And there is also a 1150mAh Lithium Ion battery inside, which can deliver up to 3 hours of talk time or up to 250 hours standby time.

Other specs of the handset also include a built-in GPS receiver (Qualcomm GPSOne, Assisted GPS, Aided GPS and standalone GPS supported), proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, e-compass, accelerometer, support for SMS / IM / MMS and email (MAP, POP3, Exchange), along with a media player, WebKit browser, and a nice range of navigation features, not to mention support for various services delivered by Google to all Android users out there. All in all, the handset seems to be an interesting option, though the company hasn't unveiled specific details on its availability and pricing yet.
