GammaTech specializes in rugged notebooks, tablets and convertible devices, so it isn't so odd to see it start the year with something of the sort.

The company has officially introduced the Durabook CA10 semi-rugged tablet, complete with 10.1-inch display, resistive multitouch panel and a case that provides Military Standard 810G and IP43 drop, shock, dust and water resistance.

GammaTech made this semi-rugged ultra-mobile tablet PC (UMPC) for field service applications.

That means that it can shrug off wet weather, winds, dusty conditions, dust storms and being dropped from heights of four feet (1.21 meters).

The starting price of the Durabook CA10 is $1,299 / 985.21-1,299 Euro. Buyers will be allowed to choose the processor, the amount of RAM, the storage capacity and other features.

Among the specs are WWAN/GPS (3G or LTE module), an RFID/NFC module, optional stylus, Intel Wi-Fi Link 135 and Bluetooth 4.0.
