A new online video streaming platform called Gaming Live is set to enter beta on February 1 and is designed to take on the current leader in the field, Twitch, and to offer an alternative solution which is based on better tech.

The official announcement says the new service is aimed at gaming companies, amateur and professional players, as well as eSports organizations.

The developer explain that “The platform will effectively allow users to monetize their gaming-based activities. Also, due to achieved transcoding efficiency over the competition, Gaming Live is now providing all their users with free 480p transcoding and accepts live-streams in 2K quality with no bitrate and frame rate limitations at all.”

The Gaming Live concept will be offered on smart TV, gaming consoles and other platforms on day one and there are plans to also create versions of it for mobile devices.

The company is also working on introducing a range of interesting monetization options for both newcomers to the field of streaming and those who already have a reputation.

Gaming Live is aiming to battle Twitch

The current leader in the field is Twitch, but it seems that there’s a lot of space on the market for another big streaming solution.

Krystian Berg, the chief operating officer, states, “Even though we know how big community around Twitch is, what kind of budgets they are operating with and how they have progressed over the last years, we know that startups are there to prove they can do something better.”

The CEO says that content creators can benefit from the unique features that Gaming Live is introducing and competition between the two services will drive them to innovate and improve the quality offered.

It will be interesting to see whether the new streaming concept can work with some high profile content creators in the coming months in order to establish itself as a true alternative.

Piotr Grabinski, the chief relationship officer, adds, “We always cared about providing games enthusiasts with not just watching and chatting, but to give them opportunity to be part of the community itself and boost discoverability to the limits.”
