Sony wants to properly celebrate the upcoming Gamescom 2011 conference and has just deployed a special themed space as a preview of its own offers that will be presented in Cologne, next week, as part of the large gaming convention.

Gamescom 2011 will kick off next week, with the biggest and most popular gaming companies arriving in Cologne and presenting their newest products and upcoming titles.

Sony is no exception, as the Japanese company is keen on not just hyping up its next big releases, like Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception or Resistance 3, but also promote the upcoming PlayStation Vita handheld platform.

Now, ahead of the start of the convention, on August 17, for press members, and August 18, for regular attendants, Sony has presented a special themed Gamescom 2011 space on the European version of its PlayStation Home social network.

"The [Gamescom 2011] space will be available from the Navigator and the What’s New section of the XMB. We will be streaming the Sony press conference live into the space from 7pm CET onwards, but don’t worry if you miss it the first time round; we will be looping the hour long press conference once it’s finished and we will also be putting up video edits in the space later on."

As such, if some PlayStation fans won't be able to make it to Cologne in order to attend Gamescom, they just need to access the PlayStation Home service from their PlayStation 3 console and check out all of the Sony presentations from the convention that will be held next week in Germany.

Sony also offered plenty of E3-related content back in June, when the big convention was held in Los Angeles, offering plenty of videos via the PlayStation Network online service and broadcast them for North American PlayStation Home users.
