If you like “Game of Thrones” and consider yourself a huge fan, then you should know that you are not alone. HBO has just announced that its award-winning and incredibly popular fantasy series, which has turned into a worldwide phenomenon, has just become its more watched show to date.

The previous show to hold the title on the premium cable channel was “The Sopranos,” but now there is a new favorite in town and the figures seem to be only getting bigger after the controversy from the last episode where one of the most beloved characters dies a violent death.

With just two more episodes remaining from season number 4, anticipation is high among fans, whether they read the books or not, because the producers have revealed that they intend to make the story on the TV show different from George R.R. Martin's fantasy epic.

Just to give you an idea of how popular “Game of Thrones” really is, we're going to mention that the latest episode to air, which took to the screen on June 1, had the second largest same-night audience since the show began, coming in at 7.17 million viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The most watched episode of the show remains the one that premiered on May 18. It registered an astounding 7.19 million viewers in the same night. The season four finale is going to air on June 15, but there is hope for the future, as Martin has hinted the show could have more than 7 seasons as originally planned.

So far, the show has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season that will likely start shooting later this year.
