This, you gotta hear! Oxygen Games is celebrating the release of their latest quiz game, Alan Hansen's Sports Challenge, for PS2, Wii and PC, right? Check this out: the company has also teamed up with psychologist Dr. Aric Sigman to bring gamers a bunch of tips to improve reaction times and "get to the top of the leaderboard this Christmas." If you're a FPS gamer who likes to take the experience online, you'd better look into these important tips.

You don't need an expert opinion to know that watching a lot of soap operas and talk shows isn't very stimulating for your intellect. However, these particular activities have been recently linked with slower reaction times. That's right man, scientists believe this type of programming simply doesn't exercise the brain enough, allowing it to become "flaccid" and "slow."

Now, another activity that might bring the opposite effects of what you've just read above is... well, we'll just let the original piece do the talking from here:

Get Aroused One of the most investigated factors affecting reaction time is arousal, or our state of attention, including muscular tension. Reaction time is fastest with a medium level of arousal, and deteriorates when we are either too relaxed or too tense. And exercise improves your reaction time by increasing arousal.

Not exactly what you were expecting to hear, is it? Well, that's why you need to stay in school, so you can learn the meaning of every word and expression.

Dr Sigman is the author of a newly revised book entitled Remotely Controlled - how television is damaging our lives, a book I am personally going to look into as soon as I get the chance.

The full list of tips to increase your gaming reflexes and focus level is available right HERE if you're interested, and we're guessing you are, since you've read this piece. Sure enough, some of them are already quite familiar to you, but it wouldn't hurt to go over them again. You can also share your impressions with us when you're done reading.
