The Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition initiative, which focuses on records related to videogames, has sparked a lot of crazy attempts over time. A group of gamers from the United Kingdom are trying to play Burnout Paradise over Xbox Live for no less than 24 hours, attempting to both get into gaming history and drawing some attention on a charity-oriented initiative.

The attempt is set to take place on April 18, in Glasgow, on the aptly named Hope Street. There will be six people playing the racing game while the people from the Guinness World Record will be watching. Only short breaks will be allowed to get some food and to use the bathroom. Sleeping on the toilet is out of the question.

One of the participants in the record attempt will be Kirsten Kearney, who used to be a Frag Doll and has taken part in the successful try to break the world record for First Person Shooter Marathon.

Kearney said that “Going for this kind of marathon gaming record is a lot harder than you might think. Keeping your morale up while concentrating on a screen and maintaining hand-eye coordination is tough, and you have to rely on using your second and third wind to help you through hardest going parts. It's made easier by the fact that we have chosen a game like Burnout Paradise, which has a great deal of variety and fresh downloadable content that we can use.”

The charity that will benefit from the attempt is GamesAid, which aims at getting funds from gamers in order to distribute them to charities focused on children. Those who follow the record attempt can donate to the charity directly and they might even log into Xbox Live on April 18 in order to play with the team of six who really want to get into the new Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition.
