Black Friday was eagerly awaited by millions of Americans as they were finally able to make some huge savings on all sorts of items, but, for some unlucky gamers, things got quickly out of hand as two ugly incidents happened during the sales rush.

Black Friday is the day right after Thanksgiving when lots of U.S. retailers slash prices on all sorts of goods, from electronics to gaming items, including consoles or actual games.

Sadly, this tradition has sparked some rather serious incidents in recent years, especially since the recession has made lots of Americans extremely eager to take advantage of a bargain.

This year’s Black Friday will certainly be one to remember for gamers that went to the Wal-Mart in Porter Ranch, San Fernando Valley, who, while rushing to the gaming section to pick up Xbox 360 or Wii bundles, were attacked by another shopper with pepper spray.

The L.A. Times reports that a woman decided nothing should get in her way to the gaming section and pulled a pepper spray can from her purse and assaulted dozens of other people.

"People started screaming, pulling and pushing each other, and then the whole area filled up with pepper spray," said one shopper. "They had been sprayed in the face, it looked like, and they had swelling of the face, really extreme swelling of face, redness, coughing," added another.

The whole area of the store needed to be evacuated and some shoppers needed medical assistance.

Another harrowing incident, via Fox Phoenix, happened in a Wal-Mart in Arizona, where a couple of way too eager policemen decided to slam into the ground a 60-year-old grandfather out shopping with his nephew.

According to eye witness reports, the child was close to being trampled by the mob of customers and the grandfather shoved a game into his jacket, to help him out with both hands. Policemen thought he was going to shoplift the game so they seized him and showed his face into the ground, leaving him in a pile of blood.

These incidents should remind people that while sales and discounts are great, problems can always happen, no matter how cautious you are, so it might be wise just to stick to online sales and stay away from regular stores.
