Sony Pictures, as owner of the Men in Black franchise, and Gameloft, developer and publisher of mobile games, have just announced they have teamed up to offer customers a new mobile game for iOS and Android platforms, as well as feature-phones.

The game is scheduled for May 25, which means it will be released at the same time as the movie. Android and iOS platforms will get it at the same time, along with the Java-enabled feature-phones.

Gameloft is ecstatic to have the chance to team with Sony Pictures Consumer Products in working with such a successful franchise as Men in Black on the Men in Black 3 mobile game. We see this as a great opportunity to provide a new and immersive way to engage with the films' iconic characters and distinctive universe,” said Karine Kaiser, VP Marketing and Licensing for Gameloft.

However, mobile gamers will probably be disappointed to know that while Gameloft and Sony have decided to offer the game for free, “Men in Black 3” will require in-app purchases for a more in-depth experience and faster advancement.

On the other hand, those who prefer freemium games will be very pleased by the fact that the game will be free for download.

For the time being, the story behind the game is a mystery, but Gameloft and Sony reveal that players will be able to interact with various characters and aliens of the Men in Black franchise.

Furthermore, they will have access to special equipment, including the Neuralyzer and Gravity Bombs, as well as the Noisy Cricket.

Sony is thrilled to be collaborating with Gameloft on the creation of the new Men in Black 3 game. Together, we have developed a game which will bring many hours of interactivity by giving fans keys to the expansive universe of Men in Black. The mobile game is an important part of our marketing for the film,” added Mark Caplan, VP Consumer Products for Sony Pictures Consumer Products, Inc.
