Rockstar Games has announced that it is partnering up with GameStop, one of the biggest retail chains for videogames, in order to offer an exclusive pre-order bonus for those who are interested in getting Red Dead Redemption, the Wild West open world shooter set to arrive in 2010. Rockstar is trying to prove its dedication to the people who are interested in picking up the title by allowing them to actually vote in order to decide which pre-order bonus will be included in the package.

Alex Moulle-Berteaux, who is the head of marketing at Rockstar Games, said that “We're privileged to have fans that are just as passionate about our games as we are. Having fans choose their own pre-order bonus is a unique way to let them be a part of Red Dead Redemption.”

Fans will choose an outfit that will be integrated in the title itself and can be obtained by completing a set of quests related to it. Rockstar is saying that wearing the outfit will change the way the in-game characters react to the protagonist, John Marston. In January, the company is said to provide further details on what the effects of the new outfit will be.

The Wild West game is set to be completely open world and based on the same engine as Grand Theft Auto IV, but with a few updates. It should tell the story of a gunslinger who finds himself forced to change and adapt as the Industrial Revolution begins to creep in the Wild West and chance its frontier structure. Red Dead Redemption should be released on April 27, 2010 on the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft, and on the PlayStation 3 from Sony. Pre-ordering can be made either in stores or on the official site of GameStop.
