Video game specialist retailer GameStop has announced that all those who have picked up the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution from the store chain are entitled to get a 50 dollars store gift card and a coupon that will get them one free used game when they pick up two others.

GameStop has sent out an official e-mail message to all customers saying, “We regret the events surrounding this title release and that our customers were put in the middle of this issue between GameStop and Square Enix, the publisher of this game.”

The company also offered an explanation for the actual voucher removal, saying, “We pulled the coupons because, like all retailers, we prefer not to promote our competitors and their competing offerings and services in our stores.”

GameStop is basically admitting that it has removed something of value to players by taking out the voucher that allowed them to download a free version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the OnLive streaming service.

The company hopes that by offering free compensation, it will persuade most if not all players of the PC version of the game not to seek legal action against it.

At the moment, GameStop is not offering a streaming service for video game, but it has bought a company called Spawn Labs that worked in this field and rumors are saying that it could announce a streaming option in 2012.

Now the retail chain allows PC gamers to pick up digital versions of games through the Impulse service that it acquired up from Stardock.

Square Enix, the publisher of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, has said that it respects GameStop's decision to remove the voucher and that the retailer has the right to decide the make up of the products it sells.

OnLive has said that a huge number of customers have signed up with the service after the promotional campaign.
