'Especially significant with the great title line-up slated for this fall'

Starting today, those looking to squeeze more value out of their old iDevice can visit GameStop and trade their Apple portble for credit towards video games, gaming systems, downloadable content and other geeky stuff.

GameStop is the world’s largest video-games multichannel retailer.

The company today announced that, “Beginning today, customers can take advantage of competitive trade values and earn credit by trading in their iPod, iPhone or iPad at GameStop stores nationwide.”

GameStop believes their offer allows customers to build trade credit very fast as iPod, iPhone and iPad trade values are significantly higher than typical game trade-ins.

GameStop president Tony Bartel said that, “By trading in iOS devices, GameStop customers have yet another source of funds to put toward the purchase of new and pre-owned games, DLC, digital PC games and more.”

Bartel noted that “This is especially significant with the great title line-up slated for this fall.”

The press release specifically says customers can nab “video games, gaming systems, downloadable content (DLC) and more”, though the company fails to mention the actual names of the gaming consoles that qualify for the program.

GameStop says your iPod, iPhone or iPad must be in good working condition, and that also includes no cosmetic defects, in order to be eligible for the trade-in.

For instance, GameStop won’t accept iDevices with dents, severe scratches or personal engravings on the casing. Who’d want to get an iPad that says ‘Marry me’ on it, right?

Another NO are iPod, iPhone or iPad devices with cracked or severely scratched screens. Also, devices with water damage are not accepted either.

A final note before I sign off. You should be aware that GameStop is free from any claim relating to the product and any content stored on it. In other words, erase the thing before sending it in!
