A number of sources are claiming that Telltale Games, the development studio best known for its work on The Walking Dead, is at the moment preparing to launch an episodic game series based on the Game of Thrones universe.

IGN has multiple unnamed individuals inside the company saying that the fantasy franchise is uniquely suited to the spirit of the company and its focus on player choices and intense action moments.

It’s not clear whether the Telltale Games title will be based just on the first book in the saga written by R.R. Martin, which is called A Song of Ice and Fire, or if they have plans to base their experience on the HBO-made television series.

Steve Allison, a senior vice president in charge of publishing, has stated, “We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment.”

About a month ago, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dan Connors, explained that his team was working on a dream title and that he could not wait to share information with fans.

At the time, most fans speculated that he was referring to Star Wars and that Telltale Games was working with Disney to create content that would be associated with the three new movies that J.J. Abrams was working on.

At the moment, the studio is working on the second episode for The Wolf Among Us and the second season of The Walking Dead.

Those who are interested in a gaming experience based on A Song of Ice and Fire can now play the web-based Game of Thrones: Ascension, which offers constant new events and features, but they can also play the slightly older Game of Thrones RPG that was published by Atlus.

A number of mods based on the fantasy universe are also available, the best of them linked to Crusader Kings II.
