14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has finally announced officially plans to make its Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet PC available for purchase in its homeland market. The slate is expected to land on the market in the near future, sporting model number SHW-M180S.
At the same time, the leading handset vendor announced officially that the tablet PC, which runs under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, will be available in the country on the airwaves of wireless carrier SKT.
Basically, although the model number is different, GT-P1000 vs SHW-M180S, the South Korean tablet PC sports about the same features and capabilities as the global version of the slate.
However, it does come with some other features and functions that are specific to this market, such as T-DMB, or access to country-specific content for users interested in downloading and buying apps, music, videos and the like.
The rest of the specifications list for Samsung Galaxy Tab SHW-M180S remains the same, Samsung Hub reports.
South Korean users will receive a device that packs a large 7-inch touchscreen display able to boast a WSVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) resolution, along with a fast 1GHz Hummingbird application processor.
Moreover, the slate sports 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.
3G support, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options have been also included into the mix, as well as built-in GPS receiver.
Other hardware specifications of this device include a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, complemented by a 1.3MP camera on the front, for video conversation.
Running under Google's Android 2.2 operating system, the tablet PC also offers support for a wide range of specific services and applications, including Search, Maps, YouTube, Gmail, and more.
Although it confirmed that the Galaxy Tab will soon become available for purchase in South Korea, Samsung did not unveil specific info on the price tag or exact availability of the device.
