Galaxy S5, the next flagship handset from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, has been rumored recently to arrive on shelves with improved gesture support, and some more info on the matter is now available.

According to a recent report coming from ETNews, Samsung will pack the upcoming device with multi-hovering capabilities.

Basically, this means that the smartphone will be able to recognize not only users’ fingers, but also part of their palms.

Furthermore, as PhoneArena notes, the technology also suggests that Samsung Galaxy S5 will be able to detect more than one finger at a time when it comes to air gesture input.

Following this technology breakthrough, Samsung is believed to have decided to include in the upcoming mobile phone a series of capabilities that are expected to prove to be game-changing for the field of gesture input.

The Air View and Air Gesture capabilities that Samsung featured in its previous devices are said to be offering only a limited set of capabilities when compared to what the aforementioned multi-hovering will be able to provide.

Unfortunately, no specific confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, and it remains to be seen whether the rumor will pan out or not.

In the meantime, we should note that Galaxy S5 is also expected to hit shelves with a 20-megapixel camera on the back, and not with a 16MP one, as previously said. Moreover, it should come with a plastic body, the same as its predecessors.

Samsung has been rumored lately to plan on launching a metal version of the handset as well, but it appears that such intentions might have been canceled.

Galaxy S5 should become official sometime before the end of this quarter, rumor has it, which means that it might not be too long before Samsung decides to deliver some official info on it, so stay tuned to learn the news.
