Soon, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics might unveil a premium flavor of the Galaxy S5 smartphone, and the device appears to have made an appearance on a price guide portal in Hong Kong.

The handset has been seen there with model number SM-G906x attached to it, which has been long rumored to denominate the more powerful, better-looking flavor of the Galaxy S5 flagship, yet no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

The SM-G906x, which SammyToday says would be an exclusive flavor of the Galaxy S5 for the South Korean market, is expected to arrive on shelves with a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) screen and should be the same size as screen on Galaxy S5, at 5.1-inch.

Moreover, the mobile phone is expected to land on the market with a Snapdragon 805 processor inside, as well as with 3GB of RAM. LTE-Advanced connectivity should also be included in the device.

The yet unannounced handset might arrive on shelves with the Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system loaded on top and should be the first smartphone coming from Samsung to run under this OS version right from the start.

Rumor has it that the phone would be launched under the name of Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, and that it would land on shelves with a metallic body, unlike the Galaxy S5, which still features a lot of plastic.

The handset was rumored to be released this year, even before the Galaxy S5 went official, and was initially expected to arrive in February, alongside the flagship Android phone.

However, Samsung did not announce it then and even suggested a few months ago that it wasn’t planning the launch of a Premium version of Galaxy S5.

On the other hand, the company also confirmed that premium smartphones were included in its roadmap, and a higher-end flavor of Galaxy S5 appears to be one of them, after all.

At the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, provided that it is indeed released under this name, is expected to make an official appearance on shelves in South Korea, on the networks of all major carriers.

Three variants of the smartphone will land in the country soon, namely SM-G906S at SK Telecom, SM-G906K at KT, and SM-G906L at LG U+, rumor has it.

An SM-G905H variant has also been spotted, which suggests that users in Europe might also get a taste of the device. However, it remains to be seen whether and when this will indeed happen, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
