This is the largest Android smartphone unveiled to date

Samsung Galaxy Note, the large Android-based mobile phone that Samsung unveiled to the world at last month's IFA 2011 trade fair, is expected to become available for purchase in the UK in the second half of November, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The new mobile phone is said to have been set for release in the country as soon as November 17th is here, bringing along that large display that impressed everyone at the aforementioned show, along with a digital stylus and Google's Android operating system on board.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the handset was unveiled to the world with a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display that can deliver a 1280 x 800 pixel HD resolution.

Moreover, the new mobile phone comes to the market with a fast 1.4GHz dual-core application processor, and runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

Undoubtedly, it will offer support for the next flavor of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, which is expected to become official as soon as this month.

The new mobile phone also comes with specific software from Samsung, aimed at enabling users to take handwritten notes with it while on the go. It is accompanied by an S Pen to make this feature possible (you can see more of it in the video below).

The Galaxy Note smartphone also comes to the market with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording, as well as with a camera on the front, for video calling.

Other specifications of this mobile phone include support for HSPA+ networks, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.

The mobile phone packs 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, and enables users add some extra storage space into the mix, via a microSD memory card slot. Galaxy Note is powered by a 2,500mAh battery. No specific info on the price tag the handset might feature in the UK has emerged for the time being.
