Mobile phone carrier AT&T is gearing up for the release of its own flavor of Galaxy Nexus, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The smartphone is currently available in the United States with support for Verizon Wireless’ LTE network, and should become available at Sprint soon, also with 4G capabilities.

On top of that, it appears that Samsung might have in mind a possible launch of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich handset on the airwaves of AT&T as well.

In fact, rumor has it that the wireless carrier is already testing the LTE-capable flavor of Galaxy Nexus.

The company sent out Nexus devices with 4G LTE SIM cards packed inside to learn more on how it can perform in real world scenarios on its network.

The SKU for the SIM cards is 73057, the guys over at Andro Rev say, explaining that they are standard cards, and not the micro SIM cards that have been packed inside Verizon’s flavor of the phone.

At the moment, users can connect to AT&T’s network with their unlocked Galaxy Nexus devices, but the experience is not the intended one.

Provided that AT&T will launch the smartphone – their first Nexus device ever – users will benefit from fast data transfer speeds on the carrier’s 3G and 4G networks.

Nothing was officially confirmed on the matter for the time being, and it might take a while before things are announced, so keep an eye on this space to learn the necessary details.

In the meantime, we should wait for Galaxy Nexus, the latest Google phone out there, to make an appearance on shelves at Sprint. The latest reports on the matter suggested that this could happen as soon as April 22nd, but an official confirmation on the matter is still pending.
