The handset won't offer support for Adobe Flash when released

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is gearing up for the release of a new Android-based handset on its airwaves, though this is not any smartphone, but the very first Ice Cream Sandwich handset in the world, the Galaxy Nexus.

The new Google phone was already made official at Verizon, though no specific info on when it might become available for purchase emerged for the time being.

However, a series of rumors on when that might happen already made it into the wild, and the latest of these suggests that December 8th might be the lucky day.

Previously, we learned that the mobile phone could have been launched either on the 18th of November or on the 22nd, but these suppositions did not pan out.

Some reports on a possible arrival of Galaxy Nexus at Verizon in early December have already made it into the wild, backed by a new set or rumors, which claim that the 8th day of the next month will bring the highly-anticipated Galaxy Nexus to shelves.

“The Samsung Nexus is now scheduled to launch in all locations on Thursday, 12/08,” a supposedly leaked screenshot from Verizon shows.

As stated above, Verizon has yet to announce an official release date for the new mobile phone, and we can only hope that this will happen sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, we should note two interesting details on Galaxy Nexus that were just brought up to our attention.

It seems that Verizon's customers will enjoy only 16GB of storage space when the new device becomes available for purchase.

Google has just updated the specs page for Galaxy Nexus so as to reflect that, which might come as a disappointment for those who were dreaming of the 32GB flavor of the device.

Also, those who will purchase the phone should know right from the start that there will be no support for Adobe Flash available on Ice Cream Sandwich, at least not for a while.

Of course, that might change in the coming months, even if Adobe dropped any development plans for Flash on Mobile, but it remains to be seen what exactly Google plans on this.

Update November 22nd: On Novemeber 21st, Google updated the said specs page for Galaxy Nexus and replaced '16GB storage' with '32GB storage'.
