NVIDIA's GeForce G92 graphics processing unit has been making the headlines for some time now, mostly due to the fact that it is featured on several NVIDIA GeForce graphics accelerators, including the 9800GT and the more recent GTS 250. These two cards have been specifically designed to provide mainstream gamers with an affordable graphics card that can deliver the optimum level of performance. On that note, two of the chip maker's partners, Gigabyte and Galaxy, have recently announced two custom-designed GeForce 9800GT and GTS 250 cards.

While Galaxy decided to update its GeForce portfolio with the introduction of a dual-slot, G92b-powered GeForce GTS250, Gigabyte went for a more “quiet” design, featuring a passively-cooled GeForce 9800GT. Despite the different cooling solutions featured on both cards, the clock speeds on the two haven't been modified, providing users with the same level of performance as on the reference design.

Galaxy's GeForce GTS 250 is equipped with 128 Stream processors, 512MB of GDDR3 256-bit memory interface, a GPU, Shaders and memory speed of 738, 1836 and 2200MHz respectively. At the other end, the passively-cooled GeForce 9800GT has been equipped with 112 Stream processors, 1GB of GDDR3 memory and clock speeds of 600, 1500 and 1800MHz for the GPU, shaders and memory. As with all NVIDIA cards, users will be able to take advantage of some of the company’s exclusive technologies, including PhysX, CUDA, and SLI. These are meant to improve overall system performance and in-game experience and optimize performance for various applications that are designed to use the parallel computing power of the GPU.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the availability and pricing of the two cards, but you are bound to see them available on the market in the near future. They will provide users with support for the latest game applications and deliver an optimum balance between pricing and performance, seeing as how they have been designed for the mainstream gamer and graphics enthusiasts.
