Short-PCB video boards seem to be the name of the game for NVIDIA's OEM nowadays. First ASUS launched one and now Galaxy has done the same (Galaxy for the EMEA market).

ASUS's new GeForce GTX 970 Graphics Card for mini PCs may be more compact than the one Galax just revealed, but it's not as powerful.

Whereas the former works at 1,088 MHz and 1,228 MHz Base/Boost, the Galax model, called GeForce GTX 970 Black Edition, can attain 1,266 MHz in a pinch, and works at 1,126 MHz the rest of the time.

That's pretty impressive for a card more compact than the reference one (which, by the way, has 1,050 MHz and 1,178 MHz clocks).

However, it was possible thanks to the use of a cooler with two fans (80 mm diameter each) instead of just one (as is the case for ASUS' GTX970-DCMOC-4GD5). The memory, 4 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, is left alone at 7 GHz.

Galax will sell the GeForce GTX 970 Black Edition in Europe, Asia and the Middle East (EMEA) for €319.90 / $319.90. Look for a box colored a mixture of teal blue and black. The NVIDIA logo is pretty hard to miss as well.
