A digital version of the Galactic Alliance multiplayer tower defense game has already been tailored to the next generation of Microsoft Surface by Vectorform. The new gaming experience made its debut at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week.

Also at CES 2011, the Redmond company introduced Microsoft Surface 2.0, a consistent evolution over the software giant’s first commercial example of surface computing.

The new Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface was available for CES 2011 attendants featuring Vectorform’s Galactic Alliance HD as a demo application.

Of course, for Vectorform, it’s only a natural evolution to focus on Microsoft Surface 2.0, as the development company has been producing a range of experiences tailored to the natural user interface (NUI) interaction model of Surface since version 1.

“The quality of games and applications coming out of Vectorform continues to impress,” Somanna Palacanda, Director, Surface Product Management at Microsoft Corp., revealed.

“We are very excited to see the next-generation of experiences that Vectorform will create for Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface.”

Softpedia readers have already been able to read about Vectorform’s efforts to tailor games such as “The Settles of Catan” to Surface, making use of all the NUI capabilities of the platform.

With Microsoft Surface 2.0, the software giant partnered with Samsung to introduce a much thinner, just 4 inch thick form factor, relying on LCDs that can see (through the new PixelSense technology) rather than on video cameras.

“It’s amazing to see how our work in games complements our other work,” Jason Vazzano, president of Vectorform added.

“We’ve seen solutions for neurological rehabilitation influenced by our best practices in game development, and defense and aerospace work driven by entertainment-focused deployments. It’s an amazing platform, and NUI is an amazing capability.”
