Having been blasted by fans and media over her physical incompatibility with the Marvel character, Gal Gadot has recently spoken out for the first time on her portrayal of the classic superhero Wonder Woman.

The main criticism was that Gadot was too skinny to portray the Amazon warrior Wonder Woman and now the actress speaks her mind on the matter.

“Hmm. I represent the Wonder Women of the new world. Breasts... anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I'd really go ‘by the book’...it'd be problematic,” she said.

Gadot seems to be hinting towards a more historically accurate depiction of the character, despite the fact that for years Marvel has been portraying its heroes as overly muscular yet trimmed. This is why fans were outraged when news first broke out that the slim-figured star from “Fast and Furious” would be playing Wonder Woman on screen.

Despite rebuffing the more ample chest issue, Gadot does admit she needs to bulk up a bit before the shooting starts, which is why she has begun an intense program of physical exercises. “It's the physical preparations that I'm starting now. A very serious training regime - Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian...1,000 and 1 things...I'll gain body mass.”

She has some time to get into shape, with the movie coming out in July 2015, although it may not be the shape fans had in mind. Regardless, the Zack Snyder-directed “Man of Steel 2” is ready to start production, with Henry Cavil reprising his role as Superman, Ben Affleck playing Batman and Joaquin Phoenix rumored to play Lex Luthor.
