A new Channel 9 video focused on the latest step in the evolution of the development resources for Windows Azure is designed to provide insight into a new deployment feature introduced by Microsoft earlier this month.

Version 1.4.1 Refresh of the Windows Azure software development kit also includes a new web deployment feature for Cloud apps.

In the video embedded at the bottom of this article, Anders Hauge, a Program Manager on the Azure tools team discusses the web deployment enhancements in Windows Azure SDK 1.4.1 Refresh, in relation to Remote Desktop in app Cloud publishing scenarios.

“He demonstrates how the new Web Deployment feature, along with Remote Desktop, enables developers to deploy iterative code changes to a web role in Windows Azure in seconds,” revealed a member of the Windows Azure team.

“This means developers can make updates to already deployed web apps with just the changes onto the same running instance, dramatically accelerating the update deployment process.”

The Windows Azure SDK 1.4.1 Refresh went live the past week, bringing with it improvements set up to streamline the publishing of Cloud apps.

Developers interested in getting their projects on Windows Azure can download the Visual Studio tools for Windows Azure and give Web Deploy a try. The tools are available free of charge, of course.

In addition to speeding up the process of deploying updates, the latest release of the Windows Azure SDK also makes it easier and faster to debug cloud-based applications.

“Make sure to watch as Anders (humorously) goes into the details of how it works and what the limitations are,” Microsoft adds.

“This new feature is available in the Azure SDK 1.4.1 refresh which you can install via the Web Platform Installer.”

For those devs that will still feel the need from extra content on top of the video below, Hauge also authored an excellent blog post about the new web deployment feature in the Windows Azure SDK titled “Enabling Web Deploy for Windows Azure Web Roles with Visual Studio.”
