Additives-free and healthier than supermarket versions

Making ice cream at home can seem like too much trouble, especially since, these days, buying it at the supermarket or from vendors in the street is neither expensive nor too much of a drag. However, with the right appliance, enjoying a cup of ice cream that comes free of all additives and is made with entirely natural ingredients can be a breeze, the Daily Mail says.

Investing in the right appliance can make all the difference as regards a few inches on the waist or one’s health, the British publication points out. Instead of going out and shelling out on ice cream that has been enriched with artificial flavors and who knows what else, one can make a financial effort (which is not even that big to begin with) and have fresh and natural ice cream whenever cravings start. If we’re talking a family with children, purchasing such appliances makes even more sense.

“Now a gadget is promising to whip up a batch of additive-free ice cream in only 20 minutes – and help mothers beat the pester power of their offspring. Makers of the My Kitchen Ice Cream Maker say it is the perfect way to avoid an unplanned trip to the shops. The machine works by quickly churning ingredients in a bowl pre-frozen in its freezer compartment. Costing £39.99, it has been on sale in Lakeland stores since February, and sales have soared in the recent hot weather,” the Mail writes.

“Another machine, the American-made Zoku Quick Pop Maker which makes ice lollies in just seven minutes, has also been flying off the shelves since it was introduced by Lakeland last month. The Ice Cream Maker churns out treats at record speed because the ice-cream mixture is placed in a bowl which has already been pre-frozen in the freezer compartment for 12 hours. The bowl contains a special gel, similar to the contents of plastic ice packages used in cooler boxes, and can be used to make two batches of ice cream before it needs to be re-frozen,” the publication further says.

Another advantage – as if having an ice cream machine at hand any time of day weren’t enough of an advantage – is that not only ice cream mixture can be used. For more taste, you can use sorbet or even fruit juice to make the perfect ice cream or, depending on the case, lolly.
