That doesn’t mean that the game is actually in the works

Half-Life 3 is the most anticipated game from Valve, but the company owning the largest digital distribution store for PC gamers is still mum on its plans regarding the franchise.

It’s been more than 7 years since the last game in the Half-Life series has been released and no one knows for sure whether or not a Half-Life 3 will ever be released.

While fans are optimistic, the few statements coming from Valve officials are very unclear on the matter. In fact, Half-Life 3 has become some sort of mirage for PC gamers, so everything involving news about the title is seen with mistrust.

A recent report from MasterHerald claims Gabe Newell said Half-Life 3 was not even in development and that Valve had put the project on hold for the moment.

“As usual in interviews with Gabe, he was asked about the current status of “Half-Life 3” – and while this was previously met with attempts to dodge the question, this time Gabe directly admitted that the game isn’t happening anytime soon, because it’s not even in development at the moment.”

No one should believe anything written about Half-Life 3 until Valve actually confirms the game

Unfortunately, the cited publication does not offer the source of the interview in which Gabe Newell presumably confirmed Half-Life 3 was not in development, which is why one fan has decided to take it directly to Valve’s CEO via email and get a confirmation on whether he said that or not.

Well, apparently Gabe Newell answered shortly saying that he did not say that Half-Life 3 was not in development. By that logic and considering the double negation, it would mean that Half-Life 3 is actually in development at Valve.

But let’s not jump to any conclusions yet like we did so many times before when we thought Half-Life 3 would soon be confirmed by Valve. So, who’s willing to take the hype train with us?
