The Chinese OEM offers three budget notebook models running Android

Chinese OEM has recently introduced three AndroidBooks sporting different screen-sizes and running Android out of the box.

Some of you might be familiar with the concept of Netbook. Back when they first started appearing in 2017, one could recognize them as smaller notebooks optimized for low weight and low cost.

Even if we haven’t heard much in terms of Netbooks, as of late, they abide to the dogma that regular home users don’t necessitate big, flashy, powerful notebooks, and their needs can be met by convenient, smaller, lightweight machines. And such activities can be sustained by an ARM-based Android device.

Lenovo is one of the manufacturers that understood that so it launched the IdeaPad A10 Android laptop, a device that gained a little traction among Android enthusiasts.

Now Chinese OEM specialized in providing affordable solutions, GaTech presented three Androidbook models. All the devices boast a polycarbonate shell with a finish that gives the beholder “aluminum” vibes (via Notebook Italia).

The first one is the Android GA-901F and comes with a 9-inch display and the very low resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Under the hood, lies a VIA WM880 SoC, something we could expect to find in a budget Android tablet.

The SoC is made up of a dual-core processor ARM Cortex A9 1.5GHz working in concert with ARM Mali 400 GPU and combined with 1/2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The Androidbook runs 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and also comes with SD card reader, headphone audio jack, two USB ports, microUSB, HDMI digital video output, Wi-Fi modules, 10/100 Ethernet and 3G provided by a USB dongle. GaTech has slipped in a 2600 mAh battery, which should provide users with a 3 hours life-span.

Going up the latter, we find the GA-101F, a Netbook coming with a 10.1-inch display and a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, but RAM is limited to 1GB and there’s 8GB of internal storage. Despite having a smaller 2000 mAh battery, the promised autonomy remains at three hours.

Last but not least, the GA-1331F has a 13.3-inch screen with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Everything else remains the same, except now we have a Bluetooth module and the battery has been bumped to 5000 mAh, so it will last up to four hours.

The larger modules offer multitouch capabilities and thanks to the embedding of Microsoft Windows CE (OS developed by Microsoft for embedded systems) the laptops can also run Office Suite.

Currently, there’s no word on when the laptops will be making it in retail and how they are going to be priced, but we expect them to come cheap.
