GTK+, a multi-platform toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces that provide a complete set of widgets, suitable for projects ranging from small one-off tools to complete application suites, is now at version 3.11.2. According to the developers, GTK+ 3.11.2 incorporates new features and quite a few updates. This is now a development version and it will evolve into GNOME 3.12.

You must keep in mind that this version of GTK+ is mostly directed at developers and less at the users. The features presented will be incorporated in the next GNOME 3.12, so you can get a glimpse at the final version.

“A number of containers have been changed to draw backgrounds and borders. By default these are fully transparent, so nothing should change: GtkBox, GtkFixed, GtkGrid, and GtkEventBox,” reads the official announcement.

Also, the link colors are now rendered using the :visited and :link states instead of the link-color and visited-link-color style properties.

Highlights of GTK+ 3.11.2:

• Client-side decorations are now used on Broadway; • Window movement for Broadway has been implemented; • Local-only is now respected in the places sidebar (GtkFileChooser); • Duplicate application shortcuts have been filtered (GtkFileChooser); • Unmounted bookmarks are now shown; • The Activity mode is now using a tick callback to move the block smoothly; • The size allocation for the fallback menubar has been fixed; • The application menu fallback has been improved, if client-side decorations or a header bar are present; • GtkBuilder no longer requires every object to have an id; • The selected printer no longer sticks between sessions; • The popup menu is no longer misplaced in dual monitor setups.

A complete changelog, featuring all the updates and fixes, can be found in the official announcement. Download GTK+ 3.11.2 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
