The organization behind the Guinness World Records announces that Grand Theft Auto V has managed to pick up seven awards from it in less than one month since it was launched.

Developer Rockstar and publisher Take Two have announced that the game has also managed to generate revenue of 1 billion dollars (760 million Euro) in less than three days.

The seven Guinness-powered records that GTA V now holds are, according to PlayerAttack:

Best-selling action-adventure videogame in 24 hours Best-selling videogame in 24 hours Fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion Fastest videogame to gross $1 billion Highest grossing videogame in 24 hours Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours Most viewed trailer for an action-adventure videogame

Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, states, “GTA totally deserves to be recognized as an icon of modern British culture, and we're thrilled to be able to feature the game in the record books. Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA 5 has proved, and how exciting that it's taken on the might of Hollywood and won!”

The open world game takes players to the city of Los Santos and the surrounding Blaine Country and allows them to play as a trio of main characters for the first time in the series.

The highpoints of the open world experience are the various heists that gamers need to organize and can then execute in two very different ways.

Since it was launched, GTA V has also received an Online mode from Rockstar, which allows up to 16 players to share a world and gives them freedom to interact, cooperating on missions or battling each other for spoils.

The multiplayer is still suffering from some issues and the company is delivering patches, while also advising gamers how to deal with some of the character-related problems.
